When our beloved webmaster, Ouida Watson, passed away late last year, ICCT president Lynn Lyle got together with the website’s original designer, IT consultant Ralph Earle, to determine how to fill the void.
The answer they came up with was greater software automation, so that our contributors and editors could concentrate on providing great articles, and the site software would take on more of the “heavy lifting” of getting the articles published. Ralph took on the task of putting the new system into place, and he is pleased to report that there is nothing Artificial about the Intelligence that makes it all work.
Here are the changes that we rolled out on July 1, 2025, designed to offer you a site that is easier to navigate and interact with.
- The Home Page now contains 3 feature articles.
- When a new feature is published, it appears at the top of the Home page, and one of the older features becomes a “tile” in the lower part of the page.
- Tiles are included in reverse chronological order below the feature articles. They include all articles and blog posts published since the inception of the site. A few high-interest tiles may be pinned to the top of the Tile section.
- Newsletters, starting with April 4, 2025, are now on the website as well as being sent by email. The link to the new Newsletter page is immediately below the feature articles, and also under Resources on the menu bar. All newsletter content is searchable from this new page.
- Articles and Posts featured in the Tiles are also available from the new Articles link in the Menu Bar. “Articles” is a new, more descriptive name for what was formerly the Blog page. Articles are searchable either by content or by category.
- The Resources menu now features Resources for Creation Care, Newsletter, Blog (Articles), and Earth Friendly Practices.
