“Read the Signs, Be the Change”
Come and bring friends, family, and a delegation from your congregation to the Third Annual Prayer Chain for the Earth on Monday, October 23, 5:00-6:30 pm. Interfaith Creation Care of the Triangle invites people of all faiths and people of conscience from around the Triangle to join anytime between 5 and 6 pm to form a human prayer chain starting on the sidewalks at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Raleigh, 3313 Wade Ave, Raleigh, NC (where parking is available) and heading east toward and beyond the Community United Church of Christ. A 15-minute prayer circle will follow at 6:00.
The theme, Read the Signs, Be the Change, suggests that we create messages on our signs that bring to mind the catastrophic signs of climate change or the hopeful solutions we can adopt to help mitigate climate change. Scroll down to see some sample messages for signs. Families are welcome. There will be children’s art stations at UUFR (3315 Wade Avenue) and a grassy area safely away from and in view of the street at CUCC (814 Dixie Trail at Wade Avenue).
In the interest of safety and to meet the requirements of our City of Raleigh permit for the prayer chain, those along Wade Avenue are required to stand on the sidewalk, not the grass or the curb, and stay out of the street. Signs attached to sticks are not allowed. If you wish you may create a cardboard roll and use it as a handle for your sign.
