In January, 2026, ICCT’s Advocacy Team launched a network of advocates in the North Carolina Triangle region. It’s called the Interfaith Climate Advocates Network (ICAN) and it’s organized by voting districts.  We introduce each advocate to 3-5 people in their voting districts to meet with North Carolina elected representatives.  To support the advocates, we’re offering training designed to equip people of diverse faith traditions and spiritual backgrounds with the tools, confidence, and spiritual grounding needed to engage thoughtfully and effectively with elected officials. Together, we advocate for the care of creation and for a fair, affordable energy system that serves all communities.  A number of the groups are already formed but new participants are invited to join.  You’re welcome to sign up to learn more or join a group here.

You can watch the video of this second ICAN training webinarPreparing to Meet Your Elected Officials – featuring Susannah Tuttle from NCCC Eco-Justice Connection.  She reviews step-by-step guidance for scheduling an introductory meeting with your representatives in the NC General Assembly and the US House of Representatives.  The webinar was offered on March, 2026. Slides of the presentation are also available here.

We also recommend watching the video of the first ICAN webinar training here and downloading the slides and presentation notes.  Held on January 13, 2026, it also features Susannah Tuttle providing training for those who are new or already engaged with advocacy work. It includes information about the NC General Assembly and how it operates as well as how to start building relationships with our representatives.
